problems after discharge from bankruptcy

Posted on Monday, July 31, 2006

After I was discharged from bankruptcy my husband and I received a loan for a car(no problems other then high interest rate). Just recently they informed us that as of February (1 1/2years) after discharge that 2 of the creditors have submitted us into the burreau, with amounts owing. My question do they have the right to do this? They did not take any action against us prior to the discharge, why now? What can I do about this? It is seriously affecting us. Its a little hard to rebuild our credit, not to mention the place where we were financed for the car said that they would never have given us the loan had this been on our credit history. One of the amounts is rather large.
I have contacted the bankruptcy agency where we filed, but no one will return my phone calls. If you have some advice for me that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

If these debts existed prior to your bankruptcy, and if they were dischargeable debts (like credit cards), then it should be a simple matter of providing your discharge certificate to the credit bureau to have your debts removed. I would suggest you contact your trustee again for assistance. If they still do not return your calls, you can contact the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy for assistance.
